ART at EDGE 3

Edge3 is quickly coming to completion and it seems like a good time to share the news of a unique art installation chosen for the grounds of the development.

Let me introduce you to the works of Yorke Graham. Yorke has been working with metal to create sculptures for over 20 years. With his start in automotive repairs, this creative artist collects discarded and weathered items to fashion them into huge oversized objects of wonder and beauty. Now Yorke has taken his creative voice and matched it with mother nature.

With our third building here in the heart of Maple Ridge, surrounded by nature and abundance, it’s so fitting that Yorke felt the lovely apple was the perfect muse for this art installation.

And why not? Apples are the most valuable edible horticultural crop in BC. About 75% of all BC orchard land is planted with apples. They are the symbol of beauty, sweetness and hope for prosperity – and the hardiness of the fruit and its durability represent strength and growth.

Yorke wanted to include elements in this work that would represent the 3rd Edge building. So there will be one sculpture at the building entrance, featuring two stacked apple slices and another single apple in one of the garden areas. These three beautiful objects will be built from a variety of vintage metal tools, equipment and miscellaneous objects.

It won’t be too long before the landscaping will begin and the art installed. In the meantime, you can see Yorke in his creative process in the two images below here.

We will also announce when installation happens and hope you will one day come to see the beautiful apples at Edge3.
